Sinn Fein has confirmed its final line up of its Cavan candidates for this year’s local elections. Selection conventions were held in the Ballyjamesduff and Bailieborough-Cootehill areas over the weekend, with two candidates being selected to run in each municipal district.
Councillors Noel Connell and Paddy McDonald will be joined on the ticket by Geraldine Harten and Bridget Boyle. In December, Councillors Daniel Downey and Damien Brady were named as the party’s candidates in the Cavan-Belturbet district.
The party is expected to hold conventions for its Monaghan candidates in the coming weeks. Speaking following the selection, local TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin said the party expects to increase its representation in County Cavan.
