Sinn Fein has selected its candidates for the Ballybay/Clones Municipal District

Sinn Fein’s selected its candidates for the Ballybay/Clones Municipal District yesterday afternoon.

Nominations for candidates closed at 5pm on Friday evening, with Pat Treanor and Rosie Smyth O’Harte nominated.

The MD loses a seat at May’s elections, with divisions moving instead to the Monaghan MD.

The party currently holds two seats with Pat Treanor and Cathy Bennett.

Meanwhile, the party will choose its European election candidate at a separate convention this afternoon.

Local MEP Matt Carthy has confirmed he’s contesting.
