Speed limits on N54 could be cut

Speed limits on sections of the N54 between Monaghan and Clones could be dropped. Monaghan County Council is running a public consultation on the plans which it’s hoped will increase safety on the route.

Among the proposals are a cut to the limit between Monaghan and Smithborough, from 100 to 80 km/h. Changes to the limits around Smithborough are also proposed, with a 60km/h limit planned for outside Gransha National School.

This limit would only be in place during school hours. The public consultation runs until Sunday and Clones Councillor Pat Treanor is encouraging people to have their say:
