St Mary’s Boys School in Monaghan is celebrating 150 years

St Mary’s Boys School in Monaghan town is celebrating 150 years.

The school started off as a Christian Brothers School in 1867 after three Christian brothers were invited to Monaghan by Bishop James Donnelly.

As part of the anniversary, the school is celebrating with a Dinner Dance and Book Launch in the Hillgrove Hotel on 9th June, and is inviting all past pupils to come along.

School Principal Colm Mac Cinna says the school traditionally catered for a large part of the county.
