St Pat’s Defeated in Rannafast Cup Final

St Patrick’s College lost the 2018 Danske Bank u-16 Rannafast Cup Final in Emyvale this afternoon.

Kevin Donohue’s side were defeated by ten points. It finished St. Colman’s College Newry 3-10 St Patrick’s College Cavan nine points.

The Cavan side were going into the game as defending champions but came unstuck to the goal threat of the Down side.

St Colman’s started brightly and struck a goal in the opening five minutes and were leading 2-04 to three points at half-time.

The Newry team were in control throughout with a fluid performance in a match played in difficult weather conditions.

St Patrick’s College had booked their place in the final after a heroic semi-final performance with a 2-06 to 1-06 win over Abbey in the semi-final.

They had been trailing at half-time by 1-06 to a point at half-time in that match.
