Student calls for government to ensure progression to third level possible next year if Leaving Cert is cancelled

A local student says the Department need to ensure progression to third level or apprenticeships next year is possible if the Leaving Cert exams are cancelled or postponed.

Many students in schools throughout the region were due to have their orals this week which have been cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic, but, written exams are still set to go ahead in June.

However, it’s been reported that some course work is yet to be completed, and many sitting the leaving cert feel they would be under prepared taking certain papers.

Evan Meighan is a sixth year student in St. Macartan’s College Monaghan, he says he and his classmates would like definite answers from the Department to alleviate the constant worry.
