Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is ‘determined’ to bring broadband to all rural areas

The Taoiseach says he is determined to make sure broadband is brought to all parts of Ireland.

Leo Varadakar said high speed broadband was essential for people to access public services which are increasingly online and also to trade in a modern economy which is increasingly digital.

Even with the resignation of Denis Naughten last week he said Plan A was still the current National Broadband Plan which new Minister for Communications Richard Bruton will get back on track over the coming weeks.

The Taoiseach said there are still approximately 20 per cent of people waiting for access to high-speed broadband in the country and it’s “absolutely no good”.
