‘When will the Government buy more ambulances and employ more staff to ensure an adequate service is provided?’
That’s the question put to the Taoiseach by Sinn Féin TD for west Cavan Martin Kenny following an incident in Killeshandra.
Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy Kenny told the Taoiseach about a child who fell ill and was taken to Cavan Hospital by a local GP in the back of a car because an ambulance would have taken 45 minutes.
He claims that there’s a crisis in rural Ireland when it comes to emergency services with ambulances travelling up and down the country, rather than being stationed in their own areas.
Deputy Martin Kenny says Government money must be spent to ensure people living in rural Ireland have access to emergency services quickly and easily.
