Ten cases of E-Coli linked infection confirmed with Ballybay crèche remaining closed

Ten cases have been confirmed and a Ballybay crèche remains closed after an outbreak of an E-Coli linked infection.

The outbreak of VTEC was confirmed last week and Ballybay Community Crèche was closed as a precaution.

The HSE today told Northern Sound News that 10 cases of the infection have been confirmed, none requiring hospitalisation.

The crèche remains closed to allow for microbiological screening of staff and children and for industrial cleaning of the facility.

It’s not yet known what caused the outbreak.

People are urged to watch for the symptoms of VTEC and contact their doctor if necessary.
