Three Cavan Bishops were awarded a Civic Reception at the Cavan Courthouse last night.
A Civic Reception is the highest civilian honour that can be bestowed in the county, and it was offered to Bishops Michael Router and Francis Duffy and Bishop Emeritus Leo O’Reilly.
Bishop Emeritus Leo O’Reilly recently retired and Cavan County Council Chairperson Shane P O’Reilly said he has been a “tower of strength who has worked for the betterment of Cavan” and that it was time to thank him.
Bishop Router was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh in July and Bishop Duffy, who’s from Bawnboy, is the current Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise.
