Three league debuts as Cavan name their side to face Dublin

Cavan have named their side for their first Division 1 game in 20 years as they welcome All Ireland and League champions Dublin to Kingspan Breffni park on Sunday.

Mattie Mc Gleenan has handed out 3 league debuts on his starting 15.

While Gerard Smith featured in last years championship, he gets his first league start on Sunday as does Fergal Reilly and Niall Clerkin.

The team in full is James Farrelly in goals with Fergal Reilly, Padraig Faulkner and Killian Brady in the full back line.

Martin Reilly, Conor Moynagh and John McCutcheon make up the half back line with Killian Clarke and Rory Dunne at the centre of the field.

Ciaran Brady, Dara Mc Veety, Gerard Smith are in the half forward line with Niall Clerkin, Niall Mc Dermott and Sean Johnston completing the starting 15.

It will be a real baptism of fire for the Breffni side and their newly installed manager Mattie Mc Gleenan, but as he remarked to our reporter Sean Mc Caffrey, the Dr Mc Kenna cup also threw up a real test and they overcame that.


With a large crowd expected in Kingspan Breffni park, on Sunday, Cavan county board are requesting that all supporters follow the directions and instructions of the stewards and Gardai on the day.

Supporters are also reminded that tickets can be pre-purchased from the GAA office or participating Centra and Supervalu stores…

 Parking is also available in the car parks in the centre of town including the multi-story car park.
