Three local athletes are getting set to represent Ireland at the World Transplant Games

Three local athletes are getting set to represent Ireland at the World Transplant Games that get underway in the UK today.

Monaghan’s Tom Flannery and Cavan native Aodhagan Cullen are two of the 38 athletes that will compete in a series of events for the next week.

Athlone’s Noel Marsden is also part the team that will be hoping for glory.

Tom is a lung transplant recipient, while Aodhagan received a kidney transplant, and they are both competing to share the message of the importance of organ donation.

The Games are held every two years to show what can be achieved by people who have undergone transplants.
