Travelling criminals carrying out large amount of thefts in Cavan and Monaghan

Travelling criminals are carrying out a large amount of the thefts in Cavan and Monaghan.

It has been reported by Gardaí that groups are travelling from across the border as well as the Dublin region to towns in this region and targeting homes, and poorly secured belongings and cars as they carry out often a spate of burglaries.

Gordon Englishby, the Superintendent of the Bailieborough District, was speaking last night at a meeting on Crime and Drugs, organised by the Bailieborough Community Alert group, and said that crimes like this are a consistent trend in the area.

He stated that these gangs of criminals often carry out a number of burglaries in one go, and has urged people to be vigilant of any suspicious activity or cars in their areas as reporting it could prevent further thefts.
