Tributes paid to Brother Harry O'Gara of Sacred Heart Community in Tanagh

He died at his residence outside Cootehill on Monday.

A member of the Sacred Hearts Congregation, Brother O’Gara was born in Tipperary in 1944 and was appointed to Tanagh in 1963 after starting his work with the religious order in America.

He served until his illness in the early nineties, and in later life helped set up the Rural Group Water Scheme at Drumgole and served on the Board of Management with Monaghan VEC and the Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre.

Brother Harry O’Gara’s private funeral will be held on Friday with burial in the Sacred Hearts Community Plot in Dublin.
