Tributes have poured in for a well-known Cavan woman who passed away in the UK last week.
Maggie Khondoker (nee Fitzpatrick) was originally from Drung near Cootehill emigrating at the age of 15, and setting up and running her namesake café in Lewisham for over 30 years.
Last Sunday Maggie died at the age of 74 following a short, non Covid related, illness leaving behind her husband Mazid, three children and eight grandchildren.

Flowers have been left outside the café, which has been described as an institution within the community.
Tributes have been shared online calling her an “icon and legend”, and someone who brought Irish hospitality and generous amounts of tea to anyone who visited the café.
