Two drivers were arrested for drink-driving on local roads over the weekend.
On Saturday evening a driver was caught doing 159 kilometres per hour on the N2 and overtaking on a double white line. The driver was stopped and Gardai discovered he was already disqualified from driving. The car was seized and the driver is being charged with dangerous driving, drink driving, having no insurance and driving without a licence.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of yesterday morning, a car failed to stop at a checkpoint outside Ballinagh, the driver was later caught and failed a roadside breath-test. Gardai say they remain committed to making the roads safer with an appeal for people not to drive while under the influence of drink or drugs.
