Tyrone secured the 2019 Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup with a two point win over Armagh who finished with 13-men.
Armagh had James Morgan and Aaron McKay sent off with Tyrone’s Ronan McNamee also dismissed as Tyrone secured a seventh Dr. McKenna Cup 0-16 to 0-14.
Darren McCurry set over five frees as Tyrone recovered from trailing 0-5 to 0-2 opening to lead, 0-9 to 0-6 at the break.
Armagh drew the game level, 0-12 points each, but had James Morgan sent off as Tyrone moved two ahead again.
Rory Grugan blazed a penalty chance to put Armagh ahead over the bar before the Tyrone’s Ronan McNamee and Armagh’s Aaron McKay were sent off for exchanging punches as Tyrone held on.
Tyrone forward Darren McCurry was named man of the match after hitting nine points in an Athletic Grounds match which will have served as an excellent warm-up for their upcoming respective Football League campaigns.
