Athletics NI and the Ulster Athletics council have cancelled a number of proposed fixtures due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.
The NI NI & Ulster Age Group Indoor Championships, Even Age Group Cross Country Championships and Uneven Age Group & Novice Cross Country Championships have all been cancelled for 2021.
A the statement published on the Northern Ireland Athletics website said;
“As athletes and their coaches face another extended period of limited or no facility access for training throughout both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and with currently no group training allowed, the Committees considered the ability for athletes to prepare for Championship-level competitions and the safety of athletes in doing so”.
Athletics NI have provisional dates for the following competitions (subject to change):
NI & Ulster Intermediate & Masters Cross Country Championships - 7th March*
NI & Ulster Senior Cross Country Championships - 20th March*
We hope to be able to host these competitions on the dates given above, however, this will be subject to restrictions and various protocols will be put in place for the event management of both.
More details will be available on the Fixtures section of the website for the above competitions.
For all those clubs, athletes or coaches who had already entered either the Even Age Group Cross Country, or the Uneven Age Group and Novice Cross Country, refunds will be processed in due course.
