One of the men attacked by a vigilante group in Armagh over the weekend has been returned to prison.
Two wanted men were set upon by a vigilante group in the Mullaghbawn area on Saturday evening – they were hit with iron bars and covered with paint during the incident.
James White and Alexis Guesto were seriously assaulted in the Mullaghbawn area of Armagh, where they were beaten with iron bars, tied up and covered with blue paint.
The pair were wanted by both the Gardai and the PSNI for a number of offences, including breach of court orders.
According to reports on social media, they were also sighted in areas across Cavan and Monaghan.
Police in the North say White and Guesto were set upon by a number of men on Saturday night as they attempted to evade an ongoing Police search.
The PSNI this afternoon said James White had been recalled to prison, with Alexis Guesto appearing in Court in Newry this morning on a bench warrant.
He was remanded in custody.
Police are thanking the local community for their help with the search but have warned against vigilante actions, saying “the violent actions of a small number” have led to them redirecting resources to investigate a serious assault.
