Warning issued over fire safety this Christmas

We’re being urged not to forget about fire safety over the Christmas period.

It’s an important issue at any time of the year but we’re being told to keep a watchful eye over candles, trees and ovens during our festive celebrations.

After Christmas lights should be checked for any frayed wires and dried-out trees should be disposed of as soon as possible because they’re fire hazard.

The assistant chief fire officer in Cavan, Martin Treanor, is issuing a warning that real Christmas trees needs to be kept from drying out.
