Weeks of talks expected before new Government is formed

It could be weeks before a new Government is formed as parties continue to meet to “figure out what the electorate wants”.

Sinn Féin is continuing to hold meetings with other parties and officials in a bid to form a Government.

However, whether it will be able to remains to be seen as Fine Gael says it will go into opposition and Fianna Fáil has ruled out a coalition with Sinn Féin.

The Dáil will sit for the first time tomorrow when a new Ceann Comhairle will be elected, as well as a vote on the office of Taoiseach.

However, it’s unlikely any candidate for Taosieach will have enough support.
