Work to demolish the Magheracloone GAA and Community Centre buildings is to get underway shortly.
The two buildings were condemned after a sinkhole appeared on the grounds last September.
The collapse of a disused underground mine led to the subsidence of the grounds of Magheracloone Mitchells GAA club and substantial damage to the clubhouse and community centre.
The buildings have been off-limits since, in the interest of public safety.
In statement published recently, Gyproc said contractors have been appointed to begin the “necessary” demolition of the two buildings, with it due to be completed by the end of November.
The company reiterated its commitment to replace the lost facilities, saying it recognises that the commencement brings an end to part of the history of the community and it will be a sad day for the area.
