Work will commence today on a new car park in Glan Gap for those wishing to access the Cuilcagh mountains from the Glangevlin side.

The LEADER funding project will include also minor upgrade works at the Altachullion Viewing Point, Tullydermot Waterfall and will provide a lowland walk from Tullydermot to Alteen.

Cavan councillor John Paul Feely says access to Cuilcagh has been a growing issue and this investment will take cars off the road across Glan Gap and provide a safe parking place.

Councillor Feeley added that the lowland walk will be a welcome addition to the other marked walking routes in the Swanlinbar area.

The Fianna Fáil councillor says the investment is a welcome first step and he thanked local landowners for their cooperation in the project.
