With 90 Syrians expected to arrive in Monaghan very soon, a group of local people have banded together to form a welcoming committee.
It was announced last year that 90 refugees, from 20 families, were to be rehoused in Monaghan as part of a European agreement. The first of the families are set to arrive locally at the end of this month.
The group of local people have been meeting to discuss how best to make the Syrians feel at home in County Monaghan and will provide advice and support when they arrive. Dermot Foley is part of the group and explained more when he spoke to Caroline Gauley on The Wider View:
