A Cavan Councillor says he's opposed to the Local Property Tax, despite not putting forward a proposal against an increase to it in the county this week.
Councillors this week approved an increase of 15 per cent above the national base figure.
It was proposed by independent Councillors Shane P O'Reilly and Brendan Fay, with no vote taken as no counter proposal was put forward.
It followed comments from Chief Executive Tommy Ryan who said no increase could lead to cuts to housing and roads as they looked to balance the budget later this year.
Sinn Féin's Paddy McDonald says he didn't put forward a counter proposal as it would not have received support from other Councillors.
