The Department of Agriculture has defended the TB letters sent out to local farmers.
In the past month, farmers have received documents that categorise their TB risk level and gives advice on how to reduce it.
Letters have been burned publically as farming organisations say are they are unnecessary, against GDPR and could devalue their cattle.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound News, a Department spokesperson said the policy is based on the science of how the disease spreads, and aims to help farmers eradicate TB.
It continues that the new categorisation is based off a similar method in New Zealand which was favoured by members of the Irish TB Forum.
