This week marked World Bee Day with local people are being encouraged to appreciate the insects. The day was part of a National Biodiversity Week, which aims to raise awareness of the environment around us and how we can play our part.
Recent figures show that Irish Bumblebee populations recorded in 2017 are the lowest they’ve been since monitoring began in 2012.
Local Beekeeper Seamus Murphy spoke about the life of a beekeeper as well as the establishment of the Cavan Beekeepers Association which supports over 100 local beekeepers.
