The story behind the making of the Big Tom statue will be shown at a film festival in Galway next month.
“Making Tom” is a short documentary that follows Mark Richards as he creates a statue of the King of Irish Country Music. The monument stands at Castleblayney Market House and was unveiled last September, five months after Big Tom passed away.
The documentary is co-directed by Tom McBride’s niece Táine King and will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh on Wednesday July 10th. Táine spoke to Eddie Butler on The Wider View to tell more.
