Localising our efforts when tackling mental health in the region could help when it comes to the high suicide rates.
The recent NOSP report showed that both Cavan and Monaghan exceed the national average in relation to suicide figures as well as being the counties with the highest numbers of suicides in the country.
In response to this Charity SoSad, who are based in Cavan, have urged people to take responsibility for their mental health.
Co-ordinator with the charity, Christine Wynne, spoke on The Wider View today about the need to educate one another when it comes to mental illness.
She started by saying the news that nationally the figure is dropping, can only be seen as a positive.
