The voices of local mothers are included in a document that's been presented to government, demanding change in the way children with autism are schooled.
Heading up the charge is Nicole Duggan who has an autistic son who's non-verbal and has sensory issues, and due to this is unable to attend mainstream school classes.
He needs to be taught in an ASD specific unit, of which there are few in the county meaning that Nicole's only option currently would be to get a home tutor.
The frustrated mother started a petition, calling on the government to stop making excuses and change the system so that autistic children can get the basic support they need.
Within a month it garnered over 30,000 signatures and a document including over 100 parent testimonials, was hand delivered to Minister Joe McHugh at the recent Fine Gael Ard Fhéis.
Nicole says that she hasn't yet received a response and the fight will continue. She joined Caroline Gauley on The Wider View to explain and started by explaining what day to day life is like when your child has autism:
