A retired Sergeant Major says the army would be needed in the region in the event a hard border is put in place after Brexit.
Noel O'Callaghan told The Wider View that there are fears the organisation could lose up to 1,000 troops this year if pay is not increased. This comes after reports a Carrickmacross company was paid more for painting of facilities in 2017 than the entire yearly salary of a newly qualified Private.
