There are over 7,000 people in receipt of the Living Alone Allowance (LAA) across the Northern Sound region.
That’s according to figures released by the Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, last week in response to a parliamentary question.
According to Minister Calleary, 4,238 people are in receipt of the allowance in Co. Cavan.

Meanwhile, in Co. Monaghan there are 3,552 people receiving the allowance.
As of the 31st of May, Minister Calleary said that 258,753 people receive the allowance.
