An 86-year-old beef farmer from Crossdoney has spoken for the 55,000 people in counties Cavan and Monaghan who lost power during storm Éowyn a week ago tomorrow.
While the number of homes, businesses and farms without electricity is down to 10,000 as of 9:30 this morning, Pat Clarke and many others like him in west Cavan, has been without power and water for seven days now.
He has had to draw water to animals with the help of his family and at night is living in freezing conditions in an old house with only candles for light. "Abandoned", "third world conditions", "national disgrace" are the terms Mr Clarke used to describe his ongoing situation.
He is one of many listeners at their wits' end who contacted Northern Sound as the only outlet where they feel they can voice their growing frustration - which has turned to anger - over the government's response to this latest storm.
