Almost 700 without power locally after overnight thunderstorms

Almost 700 homes across the region are without power this morning after thunderstorms overnight.

The majority are in Cavan, with 293 outages reported in the Kilcogy and Mullahoran areas.

A further 163 homes are without power in Mullagh.

There are also smaller outages in Bailieborough, Virginia and Bawnboy.

In Monaghan there are 49 homes and businesses without power in Carrickmacross.

The ESB power check website estimates that all faults will be repaired by 2.30 this afternoon.
