Five arrested following major public order incident in Virginia

Five youths have been arrested following a major public order incident in Virginia tonight.

Northern Sound FM understands all five have been arrested and detained over an alleged assault that occurred after 7.30pm this evening.

A significant number of Gardai were swiftly on the scene of the incidents at both Lough Ramor and the Main Street of the town.

Northern Sound FM also understands that a man was allegedly attacked by a number of individuals.

A Garda source confirmed that a number of individuals (males) required medical attention following this incident and are believed to have been taken to Cavan General Hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the man was set upon by at least 4 people and the condition of the man that was allegedly assaulted is unknown at this time.

In a statement tonight, a Garda spokesperson said several persons have been conveyed to hospital.
