The average cost of a home in the Northern Sound region is over 260 thousand euro.
That's according to CSO figures for the month of April, which revealed it's among the regions with the largest price increases, outside Dublin.
According to the CSO's Residential Property Price Index report for April, house prices have risen by 10.7 per cent across Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Donegal, and Sligo.
In total, 251 homes were sold across Cavan and Monaghan so far this year - 79 of these were sold to first-time buyers.
Properities sold across Cavan amounted to a total value of 45-point-7 million euro, while in Monaghan, that figure was 21-point-3 million euro.
The median price of a home in Monaghan was 262 thousand euro.
In Cavan, the median price was 260 thousand euro.
Nationally, the highest median price for a dwelling in the 12 months to April 2026 was €685,750 in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, while the lowest median price was €197,000 in Longford.
