The price of the average second-hand three-bed semi in has increased to €235,000.
That's up 7 percent from €220,000 in the last twelve months, according to a national survey by Real Estate Alliance. Across the county, average prices have remained steady this quarter, while the average time taken to sell is currently four weeks, the Q1 REA Average House Price Index shows.
The survey shows that across Monaghan, 50 percent of purchasers were first-time buyers, while a total of 20 percent of sales in the county this quarter were attributed to landlords leaving the market.
Dermot Conlon of REA Gunne Property in Carrickmacross says the lack of new homes in Monaghan is attributing to the price increasing for second hand homes. The local auctioneer says the market in the region is very steady with a lot of demand from potential buyers locally.
