The figures for the number of applications for the 2025 Basic Income Support for Sustainability Scheme in the Northern Sound region have been revealed.
New figures from the Department of Agriculture show that 4,641 applications were submitted in Cavan before the May 15 deadline, while Monaghan recorded 3,980 applications.
Nationally, 122,151 farmers applied for the BISS scheme and other area based supports this year.
Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon said this highlights the importance of the payments to farmers.
It was noted that where farmers have made their BISS and other area based schemes application, but now wish to make an amendment, they may make such changes online until midnight on Sunday 31 May, without any penalty.
