Book of evidence to be served in relation to fatal Monaghan collision

It's alleged that Mr Bucurica drove a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous causing the death of the Co Monaghan woman.

A book of evidence will be served on a 56-year-old man in relation to a fatal collision in Co Monaghan.

Ion Bucurica previously appeared before Monaghan District Court in relation to dangerous driving causing the death of mother of two, Emma Mackeral.

The Romanian national was also further charged at a previous sitting with no insurance and failure to produce in court.

Mr Bucurica was present in court today and was told that DPP directions in this case have said he to be prosecuted on indictment.

The case is in relation to Gardaí and emergency services attending a collision involving a HGV and a car on the N2 at Mullaghnee, Annalitten, Castleblayney which occurred in December 2025. Emma Mackeral, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's alleged that Mr Bucurica drove a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous causing the death of the Co Monaghan woman and he was arrested at the scene.

Judge Raymond Finnegan further remanded Mr Bucurica on bail and he will appear again before Monaghan District Court on July 27th to allow for the book of evidence to be served.
