A local councillor has called for increased Garda presence on the N2 in Monaghan.
It comes following concerns that drivers are using their phones while driving, and "a lot of overtaking".
Fianna Fáil Cllr. Raymond Aughey made the proposal at a meeting of Monaghan County Council this week.
He proposed that Monaghan County Council write to An Garda Síochána requesting increased Garda presence on the N2.
The motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr. Peter Conlon.
Cllr. Aughey told Northern Sound that drivers' behaviour on the N2 has been "less than wonderful".
He described the road as a "hazardous road to drive" at the moment.
Cllr. Aughey said: "We know how dangerous the N2 is, especially from Castleblayney to Ardee. It's one of the most dangerous roads in the country.
"As chairperson of the SBC of Transport, who looks after speed limits, I just felt it was my duty to see can we got more road police on that stretch, to try and affect driver behaviour," he added.
