A local councillor says the biggest issue is speed when it comes to the serious situation that residents in Munterconnaught face day in day out.
Cllr TP O'Reilly says the speed and the volume of traffic on the roads that run alongside the N3 is the problem.
He says there has been a lot of protest towards the issue and the local councillor believes this will only increase.
He said this problem is heightened by the constant avoidance of the N3.
Cllr O'Reilly referred to two accidents in the past in the Munterconnaught area, adding that he informed the local garda sergeant over his concerns and the concerns from residents.
The Fine Gael councillor said that a more visual presence was needed by gardai and maybe if motorists were hit in the pocket with the likes of a €500 fine for 10km/h above the speed limit, they might think twice the next time.
