Lidl on the Ballinagh Rd in Cavan is to close on Saturday and re-open in the summer.
The supermarket giants are to demolish the Cavan store and rebuild it. The Ballinagh Road retail store was one of the first Lidl stores to open in the country 23 years ago.
Under their new plan Lidl want to build a new supermarket with ancillary off-licence sales on the 0.9 Hectares site. The plans will see the demolition of the existing single storey Discount Foodstore measuring c. 1,596 sqm gross floor space.
The construction of a single storey mono-pitch (with flat roof loading bay) Discount Foodstore (with ancillary off-licence use) measuring 2,560 sqm gross floor space with a net retail sales area of 1,652 sqm. The Lidl site on the Ballinagh Road in Cavan will see 120 car parking spaces, a covered trolley bay area, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, roof mounted solar panels, cycle parking, modification of existing drainage, utility and services infrastructure and connections. The new store will open during the summer of 2026.
