Just over €400,000 has been paid out under the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme so far in Cavan and Monaghan. The figures released by the Minister for Social Protection shows a total of 1,992 claims have been paid out in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.
Cavan has by the far the most claims at 1,524 totalling €311,666 in payouts. While 468 claims have been paid out in Monaghan so far, totalling €92,557.
HAS is designed to provide emergency financial help if a home has been affected by a severe weather event. Claims increased exponentially in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn, one of the strongest storms to ever hit Ireland.
