A Co Cavan resident says the new planned legislation for landlords is the reason why she is facing homelessness.
Rebecca Lambe who has lived in Virginia for the last 10 years says she received an eviction notice before Christmas.
She says the purposed legislation from the government that radically alters the market for tenants and landlords has been her downfall and she says others will be in the same position.
According to the Department of Housing, new leases after the 1st of March will be subject to a minimum duration of six years.
This will give the tenants more certainty, according to the Government.
Landlords will only be able to end the tenancy in specific situations, such as the tenant is not meeting their obligations, or the property no longer suits the tenant's needs.
Rebecca says in the past couple of months she has made contact with over 224 properties and has had 4 viewings but to no avail.
She outlined while she would love to remain in the Virginia area, she's open to anywhere in the wider North East area.
