A Cavan Senator says by-elections are only "a snapshot in time".
Sarah O'Reilly was reacting to the results of this week's by-elections.
The Dublin Central by-election was won by Daniel Ennis of the Social Democrats, leading to the party having two TDs in the same constituency for the first time in their history.

The Galway West by-election was won by Seán Kyne of Fine Gael.
Senator O'Reilly noted that they were two high-profile candidates, and different locations could have seen different parties come out on top.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show today, she said by-elections are only a snapshot in time.
