Circuit Court sittings have been scheduled to take place in Carrickmacross from Autumn 2026.
That's according to local councillor PJ O'Hanlon.
The local courthouse has not been used as a venue since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Despite this, he confirmed that Circuit Court sittings will return from Autumn once works on court room technology is completed.
Some court sittings have already taken place in 2025.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Hanlon said he is "thrilled" with this development.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he said the courthouse is an "iconic building" at the end of the main street and it means everything to the people of Carrickmacross to have it back up and running.
Cllr O'Hanlon said making sure every property on the main street is open is "vital" for the town going forward both culturally and economically.
