Clones native makes it 7 world records in a row

Clones native Shane McLoughlin made history over the weekend by breaking his seventh consecutive world record after pulling a 200-tonne ferry in Burtonport in Donegal.

The Monaghan amputee pulled the new Arranmore Blu ferry, which was loaded with two tipper lorries, in the Guiness World Record achievement.

Deputy Pearce Doherty who was in attendance to watch the local man gain another record described Shane as a true inspiration and living proof that determination and belief can take you beyond limits.

Shane, who was named Monaghan Person of the Year 2025 also pulled a lorry on the Main Street of Carrickmacross on Friday evening last to highlight the Carrickmacross festival that was underway over the weekend.

Shane says two years on from his first world record and life has never been better for the Clones man.

He says that message of being able to do anything that an abled bodied person can do is a strong now as it ever was for him.
