Cold snap to be 'short lived' says Magheracloone forecaster

The Northern Sound will face a low temperature and ice warning from 9pm until 10am tomorrow morning.

Met Eireann forecaster and Magheracloone man Gerry Murphy says the expected cold snap will be short lived across Cavan and Monaghan.

The entire country will face a low temperature and ice warning from 9pm until 10am tomorrow morning.

From midday on tomorrow, Co Cavan will be subject to a rain and snow alert, while Cork and Kerry will fall under a rain warning from the same time.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Murphy said it will be frosty overnight with possible ice in places and temperatures dropping as low as minus three degrees.

While tomorrow will be cold, he says there is a chance that sleet and snow could fall on high ground but that will only last for a short time.
