There were 644 planning permissions granted in Cavan in 2025.
That's according to recently published information by the Central Statistics office.
Of the 644 permissions granted in Cavan, 129 were new construction dwellings, 265 were new construction other, 146 were extensions and 104 were alterations and conversions.
In Monaghan the number stood at 459 permissions granted.
Within this, 142 were new construction dwellings, 181 were new construction other, 83 were extensions and 53 were alterations and conversions.
In Cavan 299 permissions were given in the Q4 of 2025, in Monaghan that figure stands at 125.
In terms of apartments, there were 157 apartments given planning permission in Cavan in 2025 and 61 in Monaghan.
Nationally, there was an annual increase of 7.9% in the total number of dwelling units granted planning permission in 2025 to 34,974, up from 32,401 units in 2024. This compares with an annual decrease of 21.4% in 2024.
