Demolition works at a derelict property in Carrickmacross is underway to make a busy road safer.
The works began yesterday at the junction to the Magheross Road at the corner of the Kingscourt Road.
According to Cllr Colm Carthy, the property didn’t suit redevelopment, and the knocking of the building will allow the junction to be much safer.
Cllr Carthy says this will also help in the Safety works planned for the Kingscourt Road with the design expected to be presented to councillors over the next couple of months.
The local councillor says safety works for Kingscourt Road will make if easier for pedestrians to access the town safely and for motorists using this road.
The Sinn Fein rep says it’s something he has been advocating for a number of years.
